A BRIGHTER FUTURE.

Government that works for everyone

As parents, like so many of you, we work hard to provide our children with the same opportunities we experienced while growing up. However, due to failed policies in Lansing, we, as many of you, are finding it difficult to provide those opportunities.

Fair Taxes

Unfair taxes, in Michigan have made it harder for working families to succeed. Lansing is taking advantage of retirees on fixed income with the pension tax.

Education Crisis

Our children must have the freedom to succeed by ensuring safe, exemplary schools which meet the needs of students of ALL abilities. I will address the urgent need for mental health programs both in our schools and at the adult level.

EDUCATION CRISIS IN MICHIGAN

Our children must have the freedom to succeed by ensuring safe, exemplary schools which meet the needs of students of ALL abilities. I will address the urgent need for mental health programs in our schools.

Many of our schools are finding it harder and harder to provide opportunities to students due to budget cuts, outdated equipment, and crumbling infrastructure.

We must invest in our children and in Michigan’s public education. Many schools are falling behind which is leaving our students to trail nationally. As our school’s infrastructure gets worse and worse, eventually the local community is faced with a choice of passing a millage or closing a school.

As a Father of two young boys, this could not be more concerning. Lansing needs to do more to help maintain and invest in our future. Creating a safe learning environment requires investment in our educators, facilities, and resources for public schools. No parents in Michigan should lack access to mental health assistance for their children. No parent should fear sending their children to school because preventative safety measures have not been enacted due to lack of funding from the state.  It’s time to get serious about our public schools and provide a hopeful future for our children.

FAIR TAXES IN MICHIGAN

Unfair taxes, in Michigan have made it harder for working families to succeed. Lansing is taking advantage of retirees on fixed income with the pension tax.

We must repeal Snyders’ Pension Tax. The 4.25% tax on Michiganders pensions unfairly hurts working class families in Michigan. Those who have worked hard and earned a pension should be able to keep the money they have earned; in the current economic environment we are providing too may tax cuts to large corporations yet taking away from those on fixed incomes. The Michigan Legislature should be ashamed of itself for burdening seniors for 11 years to help pay for a 1-BILLION-dollar tax cut that was given to big business.

There has been talk from both parties about repealing the Pension Tax and providing tax relief, but no deal has been made in Lansing. This is unacceptable when many families are struggling to get ahead of inflation. Both parties need to come together and prioritize working class families over large businesses by creating a fair tax plan. At the top of that plan should be the elimination of the pension tax.
